Lady Bulldog Savannah Winfree is being closely guarded by Lady Pioneer Aleya Esparza during the closing minutes of the Eastside Bulldogs' 14-13 win.
It was a low-scoring defensive battle right till the final buzzer in the 5-6 grade preseason basketball tournament Thursday night. A shot by Eastside with 1:12 to play gave the Lady Bulldogs a one-point advantage and it was enough to give Eastside a 14-13 win over the WCMS Lady Pioneers.Late in the game, it was anyone’s game to win. Both teams stayed aggressive on defense and players from both sides tried to get to the basket.
