The Warren County High School football team has started the season with back-to-back losses, but nobody would remember them if the Pioneers upset Cookeville at home tonight.Warren County will play host to a District 6-AAA battle when the Cavaliers come to town for a 7 p.m. contest at Nunley Stadium.A win against the Cavaliers would immediately erase the memories of a 20-7 loss to DeKalb County to begin the season and the eight-turnover disaster in Shelbyville last week that led to a 41-16 defeat. A victory also means ascending to the top of the district standings and putting the Pioneers in position for their first playoff bid since 2008.The last time Warren County beat the Cavaliers was in 2008 - a 20-14 victory at home on the final night of the regular season. Since then, Cookeville has won four straight, including sweeping the three games Tommy Johnson has coached against the Cavaliers.Coach Johnson believes this is the best team he’s put on the field against Cookeville and thinks the Pioneers have corrected the issues that plagued them in the first two weeks.“I have full confidence in the schemes we have offensively and defensively,” said Johnson.
