Dibrell wins Ruritan tourney

Tournament MVP Aaron Ashburn scored a game-high 14 points and Dibrell established itself as the team to beat this season in 7-8 grade basketball.Dibrell held off a fierce charge from Morrison to edge the Eagles 29-25 in the Morrison Ruritan championship Friday night.The game couldn’t have gotten any closer as it was knotted 20-20 after three quarters. Dibrell had enough firepower down the stretch as Ashburn scored four points in the fourth and the Wildcats hit just enough of their foul shots, going 3-of-7 from the line in the final quarter to preserve the win.Parker Yates was the top scorer for Morrison with eight points, including a pair of 3-pointers. He was followed by Tyler Dunn with seven and Kaden Desmarias with six.It was Morrison’s outside shooting which kept the Eagles in the game as 12 of their points came from behind the 3-point line and five more came from foul shots.
