Denning and Cantrell took on Triple C Nursery for continuing girls ages 7-9 tournament action Thursday night and pulled off a 2-run win in the high-scoring game, claiming a 15-13 victory.The Cantrell crew got off to a quick start, maxing out the runs in the top of the first with Brooke Kesey, Kaidence Crouch, Ruby Denning, Channing Cummins and Olivia Eckel to make it a 5-0 lead.Triple C got back 3 runs as Jenna Patrick, Amaya Martin and Kennedy Scott scored before the inning ended for a 5-3 ballgame.In more back and forth play, Denning and Cantrell added 4 more runs in the second with Kesey, Boey Adams, Kade Thompson and Ella Kesey chalking up a 9-3 lead.Patrick, Martin and Scott repeated their first-inning performance making it 9-6 after two.Denning and Cantrell’s Kesey and Thompson made it 11-6 after the third, but Triple C was giving as good as they got with 4 runs in the third as Patrick, Martin, Annabella Culwell and Lainey George narrowed the curve now 11-10.Triple C took over the lead after four as Patrick and Martin – both scoring their fourth run of the game – and Kate Williams tacked 3 onto the tally making it 13-11 with time running out.Denning and Cantrell kept up the pressure, and scored 4 runs in the fifth to take back the slim margin they lost earlier. Crouch, Denning, Cummins and Campbell moved the needle to 15-13.Finally, Denning and Cantrell held Triple C to 0 runs in the fifth to end the ballgame.
