Tennessee Warehouse and Denning and Cantrell battled it out to see who would continue on the tournament trail Friday in girls ages 7-9 youth league softball.In a close contest, Denning and Cantrell defeated the Warehouse by a score of 8-7 as Ella Kesey accounted for Denning and Cantrell’s final run in the fifth inning.Starting the game up first, TN Warehouse scored early as Kaylee Kneer, Brynlee Chisam and Addy Belle Cocke notched 3 runs in the first.Denning and Cantrell, not to be outdone, rallied in the bottom of the inning for 4 runs with Brooke Kesey, Kaidence Crouch, Ruby Denning and Channing Cummins earning runs that gave them a head start, 4-3.Ivy Elrod scored for the Warehouse in the second inning, tying everything up at 4 before Denning’s D retired the side. In the bottom of the inning, Kaidence Crouch gave her team back the 1 run lead, 5-4.Denning and Cantrell formulated a 3-run third inning with Brooke Kesey, Crouch – her third of the ballgame – and Kade Thompson all scoring for an 8-4 advantage.With two innings left to play, Lola Wells and Kinsey Shields brought TN Warehouse to within 1 run 8-6 and the defense contained Denning and Cantrell in the fourth allowing no runs.Everything came down to the fifth inning as Elizabeth Bryant and Presley Winfree knotted the game 8-8 hoping for some overtime. It wasn’t to be as Kesey scored for the Denning and Cantrell win in the bottom of the fifth.
