Cookeville still seems to have the Lady Pioneers’ number.The Warren County High School softball team had put together back-to-back wins in District 6-AAA since falling to the Lady Cavaliers 11-1 in March, but Cookeville completed a season sweep of its series with the Lady Pioneers with a 7-4 home victory Tuesday night.Warren County (4-11) had momentarily separated itself from the rest of the district pack with a thrilling 7-6 win Monday against Cumberland County, but the Lady Pioneers fell back into a tie for second place with their loss to Cookeville. The Lady Pioneers are now 2-2 in district with wins over the Lady Jets and Stone Memorial.Cookeville got off to a quick start when Morgan Harris slammed a three-run homer off Lady Pioneer starter Lindsey Cox in the first inning. It helped the Lady Cavaliers build a 4-0 lead after the first inning – one Neva Tackett would slice in half in the third.The Lady Pioneers’ freshman first baseman brought around Lexi Locke and Bailey Walker with a double to close the gap to 4-2 in the top of the third.Cookeville built its lead back to four with two runs in the fourth inning, then added an exclamation point when Sydney Price hit a solo home run in the bottom of the fifth inning.Warren County went into the final inning trailing 7-2, but the Lady Pioneers didn’t give up.
