NEW YORK (AP) — Julio Teheran took the mound as a newly minted All-Star. He left looking like nothing more than a batting practice tosser.

Curtis Granderson lined a loud home run on Teheran's second pitch of the game and the New York Mets handed the Atlanta Braves their third straight loss, 8-3 Tuesday night.

Teheran (8-6) was tagged for a career-worst 11 hits and lasted just 3 1-3 innings, matching the shortest of his 53 starts in the majors.

"One of those nights that everybody has and today was mine," he said. "I feel like everything I threw, they got a good swing."

It was already 5-0 when Teheran missed badly on a full-count pitch to Lucas Duda, walking him in the fourth. Teheran was facing out toward center field when manager Fredi Gonzalez came from the dugout to pull him.

"It's just one of those starts," Gonzalez said. "The young man, he's bound to have a bad one every now and then. If you go out there 35 times, you're going to have a bad one, and today was one of his bad ones."

"Got him out of there fairly early and he can rest up for his next one," he said.

On Sunday, Teheran was picked for his first NL All-Star team, fresh from a winning effort against the Mets last week that put him among the league leaders with a 2.29 ERA. But with his mother watching from the stands, the 23-year-old righty was very hittable.

"I treated this game like the rest that I had before and I didn't try to put any pressure on me," he said. "My mom has been at one of my games before and I think that wasn't the thing that affected me."

Granderson led off with a shot that bonked off the facade of the upper deck in right field. A single by pitcher Jacob deGrom — batting in the eighth spot — keyed a three-run burst in the second and three more hits added a run in the third.

"I feel good. I felt my stuff was good. My curveball, everything," Teheran said.

"I didn't know what to adjust because I was having my best stuff," he said. "I was just trying to battle and try to find a way to get outs and they were just swinging at everything I was throwing in the zone. Even outside of the zone, because I threw a couple pitches outside of the zone and they still hit them."

Lucas Duda doubled twice, singled and drew two walks as the Mets set a team record at Citi Field with 18 hits. Daniel Murphy also doubled twice and third baseman David Wright added two hits and made a nifty catch.

The shaggy-haired deGrom (2-5) struck out 11 in seven shutout innings, leading the Mets to their third win in a row. It was the franchise's 4,000th victory since starting out as an expansion team in 1962.

DeGrom scattered seven hits, walked none and matched a career best for strikeouts.

Granderson, rebounding nicely from a slow start, hit his fourth home run in seven games. On Monday night, his tying homer in the eighth inning sent the Mets to an 11-inning win over Atlanta.

The shot also gave the Mets a home run in eight straight games at Citi Field, matching a team record for the stadium that opened in 2009.

The Mets led 5-0 in the third. Atlanta put runners at the corners with two outs in the sixth, but Wright made a diving, backhanded catch on Jason Heyward's liner to end the inning.

Three Mets relievers closed out the win. They did it while winds whipped debris all over the field as a storm blew into the ballpark. Freddie Freeman hit a two-out, two-run single in the ninth.

NOTES: Mets RHP Dillon Gee (strained right lat) comes off the disabled list to start Wednesday night against RHP Ervin Santana. ... Teheran is set to start Sunday against the Cubs at Wrigley Field, meaning he won't pitch in the All-Star game Tuesday at Minnesota. ... Andrelton Simmons went hitless for Atlanta. He had six straight multihit games coming in.
