EAST POINT, Ga. (AP) — A medal-winning Paralympic cyclist says thieves stole special equipment she needs to race in this year's Paralympic Games while she was competing in the Atlanta area.

East Point Police Maj. Russel Popham tells WSB-TV (http://2wsb.tv/1W7ic9o ) that Paralympic athlete Jennifer Schuble was racing Saturday at the Dick Lane Velodrome south of Atlanta when her car was broken into.

John Dowd, who officiates the races, also had items stolen from him.

Dowd says Schuble lost a bag filled with special equipment she needs to compete in the 2016 Paralympics. There are no cameras in the area and no witnesses.

Schuble, of Homewood, Alabama, has won five Paralympic medals from the 2008 and 2012 Games, including gold at the 2008 500-meter time trial.
