MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (AP) — Middle Tennessee coach Rick Stockstill says injuries have ended the careers of safety Nick Beasley and offensive lineman Adam Stickel.

Stockstill made the announcement Wednesday, saying both will receive medical redshirts and stay with the Blue Raiders as student coaches.

Beasley hurt his knee during spring drills after the sophomore from Canton, Mississippi, signed with Middle Tennessee last December. Stockstill says Beasley has had three surgeries since last spring.

Stickel, a redshirt junior from Kissimmee, Florida, was expected to compete for a starting job after starting six of his 12 career games. But Stockstill says Stickel has had two knee surgeries and another on an ankle.Delete - Merge Up
