KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Willie Carmichael is the latest former Southern Mississippi signee to follow Tennessee coach Donnie Tyndall to the Volunteers.

Carmichael, a 6-foot-8 forward from Wekiva High School in Apopka, Florida, initially signed with Southern Mississippi when Tyndall was coaching the Golden Eagles. Carmichael was granted a release from his letter of intent after Tyndall took over Tennessee's program. Tennessee announced Wednesday that Carmichael had signed with the Vols.

In a university release, Tyndall described Carmichael as "my type of front-line guy." Tyndall called Carmichael "tough, athletic and hard-playing."

Carmichael's addition comes one day after Tennessee announced the addition of junior-college guard Devon Baulkman, who also initially signed to play for Tyndall at Southern Mississippi. Tennessee's recruiting class also includes forward Jabari McGhee, guard Detrick Mostella and junior-college guard Kevin Punter.
