TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) — Alabama has hired former Louisiana Tech coach Greg Goff to lead the baseball program.

The Crimson Tide announced the hiring on Friday after Mitch Gaspard resigned following the season.

Goff led Louisiana Tech to a 42-20 record last season, two years after inheriting a program that won 15 games in 2014.

The Bulldogs made their first NCAA regional appearance since 1987.

Goff spent seven seasons as Campbell's head coach and four seasons at Montevallo. He's led six of his 13 teams to 40-plus wins, including four times in the past five seasons.

The former Kentucky assistant led the Bulldogs to program records with seven series wins and 19 Conference USA victories in 2016.
