Coffee County sweeps both WCHS basketball teams

WCHS coach Anthony Lippe has guided the Lady Pioneers to a 17-3 start.

The WCHS Lady Pioneers are 18-2 against every team they've faced this season not named Coffee County.

The Warren County girls are 0-2 against the Lady Raiders.

Tuesday was another tough night as the Lady Pioneers traveled to Manchester and were handed a 62-37 district loss by Coffee County.

The win is the 16th straight for Coffee County, which is unbeaten in district play. The Lady Pioneers drop to 3-2 in district.

Kyra Perkins was the top scorer for Warren County withy 10. Sable Winfree added 9.

It was an exact replay of the first meeting in McMinnville, which was close at the half until Coffee County hit another gear in the third quarter. On Tuesday night, Coffee County was up 24-22 at the half and outscored Warren County 19-4 in the third quarter. That's exactly the same score in the third quarter of the first meeting.

Coffee County made it a sweep Tuesday night in Manchester by beating the Pioneers 50-38 in a district tilt.

Alex van Vuuren had 15 points for the Pioneers. Treyton Terry and Braylon Grayson were the next high scorers with 6 each.

The loss drops the Pioneers to 8-11 overall and 1-4 in district.

Coffee County was up 24-21 at the half, but the Pioneer offense trudged through quicksand in the third quarter as the Red Raiders gained separation.
