The stakes were raised Tuesday night when four teams took the field at Warren County Fairgrounds for the start of play in the women’s Church League tournaments.First Baptist and Madison Street came out of the first night unscathed as each picked up victories in the opening round. First Baptist beat Rock Island 19-11, while Madison Street mauled Pioneer 24-5.Five hits each from Oshe Smith and Erica Chavez led First Baptist to a big win over Rock Island Tuesday night.Kadi Gladville’s two-run single highlighted the six-run spurt in the first inning as First Baptist led 6-0.Rock Island took a brief lead when it scored seven runs in the top of the fourth, led by a two-run double from Jennifer Moore and RBI singles by Jessica Mullican, Felicia Young, Darla Campbell and Eva Dodson. First Baptist answered back with seven runs in the home frame to take the lead for good.
