After a 27-10 halftime score, Cherry Springs Nursery couldn’t dig its way out of the deficit, as Carol’s Catering delivered a big 49-12 Jaycee basketball win Saturday at Bobby Ray Elementary.
Carol’s Catering had three players break double digits. Matthew Young and Isaiah Cummings both scored 14 points, and Riley Morton hit for a baker’s dozen 13 points.
“I was surprised how well they played,” said Carol’s Catering coach Jamie Martinez. “It’s like they’ve been playing together for years. There was a lot of team work. We made a few silly mistakes.”
After scoring 10 points in the first half with 6 points by Robert Young and 4 points from Hunter Knight, Cherry Springs Nursery’s offense was limited to the charity stripe in the second half as Robert Young hit two from the line.
“We were outplayed and outcoached,” said Cherry Springs Nursery coach Kevin Meyers. “We’re working to get better as the season goes on.”
Also scoring for Carol’s Catering were Tracie Crosby and Mitchel Caten, both scoring 4 points each.
