If Monday’s game at Eastside Elementary School proved anything, it’s that the gap between the elementary boys’ top team and the rest of the league is wide. The Bulldogs continued their dominance of elementary basketball with a 51-24 victory over the Dibrell Wildcats.Dibrell looked to be the league’s best bet to push Eastside as the Wildcats entered Monday’s contest with a 5-1 record and had the league’s leading scorer Trey Cantrell on their side. The Bulldogs did what they do best though, dominate its opposition. Eastside’s 1-3-1 zone kept three defenders on Cantrell at all times and the twin towers of Hunter Hawkins and Tyler Beaty were unstoppable on offense.Eastside jumped out to a 13-6 lead after the first quarter as Hawkins outscored the Wildcats on his own. Hawkins had eight points in the opening period as the high-low offense worked wonders.
