The second meeting in four days between the Warren County High School baseball team and the Grundy County Yellow Jackets lacked the drama of the first meeting.Derek Brumley took the sting out of the Yellow Jacket bats as the senior pitched a complete-game, two-hit shutout to power the Pioneers to a 5-0 victory.Warren County (6-1) won in walk-off fashion Friday at home against Grundy County, but Brumley dominated on the mound for the Pioneers Monday to help his team cruise to its sixth win in seven games. The only trouble Brumley ran into was in the first inning. Grundy County had runners on first and third with one out, but the Pioneers came up with a huge defensive play to keep the game scoreless.Brumley stepped off the mound toward third to try a pick off, but instead wheeled around and caught the runner at first napping. The Yellow Jacket took off to second and Lee Carden quickly caught the ball and fired to Nick Grandey. As the throw went toward second, the runner at third took off for home.Grandey applied a quick tag, then threw a strike to catcher Garrison Holmes to get the runner at the plate.Warren County looked like it was going to get on the board in the bottom of the first when the team loaded the bases with no outs, but two straight ground outs to third stopped the rally.
