Broncos stumble out of the gate

Chris Sullens still believes his Boyd High School boys squad is the best team in Warren County, but that hasn’t helped the Broncos beat either of their first two opponents.Boyd lost its home opener to DeKalb County 65-59 Tuesday night, which followed a 54-15 shellacking by Watertown Monday.Coach Sullens sent shock waves throughout Warren County in the preseason when he made the declaration the Broncos were the county’s best team.It hardly looked that way Monday as Boyd scored only four first-half points and struggled to hit from anywhere against Watertown. The Broncos missed all 10 of their 3-pointers and were off the mark on 14 shots in the paint against the Purple Tigers. Even free throws were a struggle as the Broncos shot 7-of-17 from the charity stripe.Coach Sullens was disappointed in the early-season loss, but didn’t feel it was a good indicator of his team."We couldn’t seem to get the lid off the basket.
