The Boyd Christian Broncos didn’t have as much luck as the Lady Broncos on Monday night as the Broncos did not get a victory over Victory Baptist Academy.
The Broncos fell hard to the visitors, losing 107-49.
Christian Rogers was the top scorer for Boyd with 17 points, followed by Cameron Chilcutt with 13.
Victory Baptist was led by four players who scored 20 points or more, including Jonah Price with a game-high 28.
The game started promising with Bronco Christian Rogers stealing the ball after the initial jump ball and passing it to Cameron Chilcutt for a layup.
The game took a turn quickly as Victory Baptist’s Isaac Brown nailed two 3s early on. Victory Baptist noticed a weak spot in the Bronco defense when it came to 3-point shots, and this weakness would prove fatal for Boyd.
Sam Page and Jordan Perry both made 3s for the Broncos to keep them in the game. By the end of the first, the Broncos were trailing by 14 points, but there was plenty of time to catch up.
Jake Jones helped the Broncos by handling the ball well and not letting Victory touch the ball when it was in his possession.
Unfortunately, defensive problems continued to be Boyd’s downfall as Victory Baptist’s offense kept driving the ball to the basket. The Broncos couldn’t get their footing right against Victory and the lead grew exponentially.
By halftime, Victory Baptist had almost reached 60 points. The third quarter didn’t prove to be any easier as Victory scored 32 points against Boyd’s nine that quarter.
