When the Lady Broncos were searching for somebody to swing the momentum at St. Andrew's Sewanee, all eyes turned to the team's seniors. Krista Chisam and Mia Onderka made sure to deliver.
With the seniors smacking serve after serve past the Mountain Lions, Boyd was able to rally for a five-set victory on the road. The Lady Broncos won 25-13, 16-25, 18-25, 25-18 and 15-13 to improve their record to 5-3.
Boyd started out red hot at Sewanee, but a lull in the second and third sets put the visitors in comeback mode late. Down 18-12 in the pivotal fourth set, Boyd shocked St. Andrew's with a rally. The Lady Broncos rolled of 13 straight points behind the serving of Chisam, who had the home team scrambling to reset its defense over and over in hopes of stopping her from scoring.
It didn't work. Chisam served out in the fourth and her and Onderka went back to work in the fifth set to finish off the comeback. Along the way, Anslee McCrary and Kendlee Ferrell hit key shots and Brooke Kesey built a wall at the net to keep the Mountain Lions from getting easy points. The victory was Boyd's second of the week over a TSSAA opponent as the Lady Broncos also beat Cannon County on the road last week.
Boyd will try to make it three wins in a row this Tuesday when it plays at home against the TN Heat. Action starts at 6 p.m.
