After finishing as the No. 2 team in the Middle Tennessee Athletic Conference, the Boyd Broncos earned the honors to play host to the Kentucky Trailblazers on Thursday.Much like they did all season, the Broncos owned the house, dominating Kentucky to the tune of 88-58 at the final buzzer. The win earned Boyd Christian High School (22-4) a semifinal game Friday to take on Aaron Academy, a team that finished first in the MTAC Northern Division.Despite the Blazers holding the height advantage and were razor sharp shooters from behind the 3-point line they were no match for the Broncos “big three” of Tyler Beaty, Trey Cantrell and Joelah Solomon. The dynamic trio would combine for 76 points in the Bronco win.Despite Western Kentucky’s ability to hit from outside, it was obvious from the opening tip they had no answer for Beaty and Solomon’s abilities in the paint as both would reach double digits in the opening frame. With their uncanny knack for finding the open lane, the Broncos jumped to a 31-17 halftime lead and never looked back.
