Standing in J.K. Stanley Gymnasium, where his fondest basketball moments have been made, Christian Barrett got a surprise Thursday morning. Coach Chris Sullens and Boyd athletic director Brent Warren presented the junior Bronco guard with a basketball in front of the student body, one engraved with the number 1,000.Barrett reached the scoring milestone last week in the Middle Tennessee Athletic Conference tournament, one where the Broncos were eliminated by Christian Community in the quarterfinals. While the game didn’t turn out like the team wanted, Barrett was able to eclipse 1,000 points on a free throw in the first half. The junior guard, most known for the barrage of 3-pointers he hits for the Broncos, was glad to reach the milestone on any kind of shot.“I didn’t care what kind of shot it was, a free throw or 3-pointer, I just was happy to reach 1,000,” said Barrett.
