Banquet honors WCHS baseball

The Warren County High School baseball team had plenty to celebrate when the Pioneers got together one final time to honor the 2012 season with a banquet.The Pioneers won 21 games and were one of the last 16 teams standing in the state. Warren County made the sectionals, falling one step short of the state tournament when the team lost to the Riverdale Warriors.With the sterling success Warren County experienced, it was inevitable many of the Pioneers would receive District 6-AAA honors.Four Warren County players were named to the All-District 6-AAA first team, while three more were selected to the second team.Seniors Derek Brumley, Micah McColloch and Garrison Holmes joined sophomore Logan Underhill on the first team. Underhill also received the District 6-AAA newcomer of the year award.Seniors Brett Mullican and Austin Green, along with junior Alex Hillis, made the second team.Brumley and McColloch were the team’s two top pitchers during the regular season and split the starts in District 6-AAA play.
