Jaxon Grissom and Connor Andrews share a hug after rallying to beat Riverside Christian on the road.

When the chips were down and chances of a win seemed to be slipping away from Boyd, Connor Andrews decided to step up. The senior guard was money in the clutch for the Broncos, hitting a pair of triples in the final minute as Boyd rallied to top Riverside Christian 52-47 in a TSIAA battle.

Boyd (2-1) played from behind the whole second half, seemingly always a stop away or shot away from getting back in the game. Andrews gave the team a spark in the second half with a rare four-point play, hitting a breakaway layup while being shoved in the back before landing. The refs deemed the foul was intentional and gave Andrews two free throws, each of which he sank as Boyd started clawing back.

By the final minute, Boyd had cut the Knights' advantage down to three and new coach Dustin Curtis called a zone-busing play to try to go for the tie. Freshman Jack Oliver looked to be the target in the corner, but Riverside swarmed to take away his look.

Oliver quickly swung the ball back to the top, where Andrews found himself with a clean look from three steps behind the line. He never hesitated and his high-arcing shot touched nothing but net to tie the game.

Riverside had a chance to retake the lead in the final 30 seconds, but Boyd's defense stood tall.  When the Broncos got a chance to win, coach Curtis called for his team to try to hold for the last shot, but once Andrews found open space with 15 seconds left, he wasn't going to pass up a chance to go for the win.

He hit a leaning 3-pointer from the left wing to push the Broncos up for the first time in the second half with less than 10 seconds to go. Boyd ultimately forced two misses in the final seconds and Oliver clinched the game with two free throws with 0.3 seconds left to seal the victory.

"Proud of the guys," said coach Curtis following the game. "We challenged them at halftime to show us things were going to be different and they did it. It was a huge win for us."

Boyd will be back at home Friday against Franklin Classical. Tip-off will be at 6:30 p.m. at JK Stanley Gymnasium.
