One point kept the Pioneers from taking home a clean sweep in Cookeville last week. Warren County was able to trounce Stone Memorial 63-15, but fell to the Cavaliers 35-34 on the road.

The Pioneers were dominant against the Panthers Tuesday, handling their business quickly and efficiently. Five Pioneers won their match by pin in under a minute, headlined by freshman Huck Damon working a pin in 18 seconds. Kenley Mitchell, Jakoby Odineal, Zerek Keel and Xavier Simmons were gone in 60 seconds as well, working quick pins in their matches.

Burgess Galligan (pin), Jaylen Clayton (pin), Braylon Powers (forfeit), Isaiah Keyes (9-4 decision), Raul Manus (pin) and Hayden Watts (pin) were also winners against Stone Memorial.

On the mat against the Cavaliers, the Pioneers wrestled their way to a deadlock. The match ended up being decided by a one-point deduction assessed to Warren County due to an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty, giving Cookeville a 35-34 victory.

Picking up points for the Pioneers against the Cavaliers were Odineal, Matthew Hicks and Mitchell grabbing six points, Clayton (15-0) and Simmons (18-2) earning five points for technical-fall triumphs, Galligan (12-4) getting four points for a major decision and Keel winning 5-2 to earn three points.
