Today, Aug. 16, marks another of those unofficial holidays (like Star Wars Day on May 4) which I observe yearly. While not necessarily a date to celebrate, it is a day to remember. Today is the 47th anniversary of the passing of Elvis Presley at his home in Memphis on Aug. 16, 1977.
