“Rep. Curtiss won’t seek re-election.” I read Southern Standard editor James Clark’s headline article last Wednesday with a mixture of surprise and sadness.I was surprised because I was just getting used to having Charles Curtiss as my official state representative, since my move from Westwood in the 47th District to Pleasant Cove in the 43rd District over two years ago.Actually, I considered Charles one of my favorite state legislators, way before I moved into his district. We didn’t always agree on political issues, but we respected each other’s views and took the time to weigh and consider them.
