TO THE EDITOR:I left my hometown many years ago to head off for college and have lived in several cities since. People have always asked me what it was like to grow up in McMinnville, Tenn., and I have been happy to share the good news – McMinnville is a great place full of kind people, parents who are proud of and support their children, and neighbors who look out for one another. Very deservedly, it is a place with a strong sense of civic pride and community.Sometimes the fabric of community can be torn as was the case recently when a local minister chose to broadcast a message about people who are gay.
