MTSU has one shining moment

During our extended four-day college basketball fiesta, TV analyst Kenny Smith was contemplating his schedule next year and said he wanted to make at least seven trips to Hawaii so he could watch the Rainbow Warriors play in person.Colleague Ernie Johnson informed Smith his seven trips to Hawaii were rejected by show producers, but he could have unlimited trips to Murfreesboro instead. For a brief moment in time, MTSU was the talk of the college basketball world after the Blue Raiders stunned No. 2 seed Michigan State in the NCAA Tournament. It’s the Michigan State team that was seemingly everyone’s darling to win the tournament, yet the Spartans made a conspicuous exit without winning one game. The upset, by an MTSU team that had not won an NCAA Tournament game since 1989, was almost enough to cause me to burn furniture in celebration, but thankfully I came to my senses.
