Wilma Jean Grove Yancy, 91, of McMinnville (Shellsford community) died Wednesday, Dec. 16 at Saint Thomas River Park Hospital. She was born Dec. 25, 1923 in Warren County and was a retired educator with the Warren County School System, was a co-founder of Don Yancy & Sons Nursery with her late husband, Don L. Yancy, a member of First Baptist Church of McMinnville, a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, and attended Shellsford Baptist Church. Mrs. Yancy was preceded in death by parents, Charles Forrest and Ella Mai McGee Grove; husband Don L. Yancy; son Bill Yancy, and sisters Ruth Ruble and Mary Rogers.Survivors include her sons, Donald (Janice) Yancy Jr. and Charles (Lorraine) Yancy; daughter-in-law, Melissa Yancy; grandchildren, Don “Chip” (Serena) Yancy III, Trevor Yancy, Scarlett Yancy, and Tiffany (Brian) Traylor; great grandchildren, Amber Yancy and Charlotte Traylor; special cousins, Clata Kell and Anna Belle Grove, and special friends Treva and Tyrone Sparkman.
