William Robert Phifer, 81

Morrison resident and Warren County native William Robert Phifer, 81, was born April 17, 1931 and died Feb. 2 at Raintree Manor Nursing Home following an extended illness.
Mr. Phifer served in the National Guard, worked for Kern’s Bread Company, Gulf Oil Company, Century Electric and Aquatech. He was one of the first people inducted into the Warren County Sports Hall of Fame.
He was the son of the late Wiley Paul and Ollie Delma Sparkman Phifer. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, David Phifer and grandson, Stephan Cantrell.
He is survived by two daughters and son-in-law, Sally and Paul Cantrell and Cindy Phifer, all of McMinnville; grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Jeffrey Paul and Wanda Cantrell of McMinnville; great-granddaughter, Lauran Cantrell of McMinnville; mother of his daughters, Martha Boyd Barnes of McMinnville; brothers and sisters-in-law, Harold and Mary Phifer, James and Kathryn Phifer and Percy and Carolyn Phifer, all of McMinnville; sister, Betty Ferguson of McMinnville; sister-in-law, Janie Underwood of McMinnville and several nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral service was held Tuesday in High’s Chapel with Bobby Newby officiating. Burial followed at Gardens of Memory.
High Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
