McMinnville resident and DeKalb County native William Kenneth VanHooser, 79, was born June 24, 1933 and died Jan. 15, at his residence following an extended illness.A farmer, he was the son of the late William Lee and Agnes Pirtle VanHooser. He was married Sept. 21, 1951 to Gayle Gilley VanHooser of McMinnville.In addition to his wife, he is survived by four children and spouses, Kathryn and Bill Hopkins of Nashville Julia and Alan George of McMinnville, Nancy and Craig Doman of Murfreesboro, and Ranse and Kay VanHooser of McMinnville; five grandchildren, Matthew George, Maria George, Sarah Harris, Jacqui VanHooser and Staci VanHooser; one great-grandchild, Peyton Harris; and one sister and brother-in-law, Carol and Billy McBee of Sewanee.Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday in High’s Chapel with Gayle Mangum officiating. Burial will follow at Whorton Springs Cemetery in DeKalb County.
