Theresa L. Hawthorne, 71, of Rock Island died Thursday, Jan. 1, at her residence after an extended illness.She was born on Friday, June 11, 1943 in McMinnville to the late Will Howard and Bernie lee (Simons) Cripps. She was a member of Jericho Church of Christ and a retired factory worker with Findlay Industry.She is survived by her husband of 40 years William (Peyton) Hawthorne of Rock Island; daughters, Lois Rena Hawthorne and husband Michael of Rock Island, Beverly Thompson and husband Ronnie of Rock Island, and Donnia Smith and Jerry of Charlotte; sister, Peggy Griffith of Rock Island; one brother, Norman Cripps of McMinnville; seven grandchildren, Angelia McCarver, Wynenma Conley, Thomas Johnson, Elizabeth Boyd, Tammi Potter, Jeremy Smith, and Jeffery Smith; nine great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.She was preceded in death by brother William Dwight Cripps.Funeral service was held Saturday at Gardens of Memory Funeral Home Chapel with Titus Ward officiating. Interment followed at Brick House Cemetery in Rock Island.
