Roy Edward Prater, 70, of Weaverville, N.C., (formerly of Warren County) died Wednesday, April 3 at Mission Hospital in Asheville, N.C.He was born April 24, 1942, in Warren County and worked in the construction business. Mr. Prater was preceded in death by his parents Shealy G. and Lola Mae Gann Prater; first wife, Ruth Brown Prater; sister, Alice Youngblood; and brothers, Joe Prater and Larry Waymon Prater.Survivors include his wife, Sarah Louise Banks Prater of Weaverville, N.C.; stepdaughters, Teresa Franklin, Lisa Franklin, Angela Franklin, and Kim Edwards; stepson, Dewey Franklin, 13 step-grandchildren, 18 step-great-grandchildren; sisters, Gladys Lance and husband, Austin of McMinnville, Arline Morris of Fairbanks, Alaska, and Ann Weatherford and husband Gary of Columbia; and sister-in-law, Dorothy Prater; several nieces, nephews, family members and friends also survive.A graveside service was held Tuesday at Tucker Cemetery in Cannon County.
