Mr. Robert Hatton “R.H.” Bond, 89, of McMinnville died Thursday, Aug. 20, at Saint Thomas Rutherford Hospital in Murfreesboro.
He was born April 11, 1931, in Warren County, served his country in the U.S. Marines, was a retired nurseryman and owner of Lucky Nursery, and a member of Gath Baptist Church. R.H. was a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge, was an avid bowler with the Silver and Gold Bowling League, was a fishing enthusiast, and loved being outdoors in his nursery. Mr. Bond was preceded in death by his parents Robert Otis and Grace Lois Craddock Bond, wife of 58 years Robbie Elizabeth Vandagriff Bond, and son-in-law Russell Morgan.
He is survived by his daughter Teresa Morgan, granddaughters Keri (Dillon) Powell and Kayla (Roby) Matheney, great-grandchildren Dawsyn Powell, Reagan Powell, Jace Matheney, and Decker Matheney, sister Joan (Ellis) Terry, and niece Chelene Terry. Many other family members, friends, and his church family also survives.
Graveside service and interment is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 23, at Gath Cemetery. Bro. Rick Stewart and Bro. John Padgett will officiate. Military grave rites will be administered by the Marine Corps League – Bobby Ray Detachment. The family will receive friends from 12 to 3 p.m. on Sunday at the parlors of McMinnville Funeral Home.
