Robert Franklin Kilgore, 90, of Murfreesboro (formerly of McMinnville) died Sunday, April 20 at Broadmore Assisted Living in Murfreesboro.
He was born Aug. 12, 1923, in Grundy County and was a retired diesel mechanic, and served his country with the U.S. Army during World War II. Mr. Kilgore was preceded in death by parents, Roy and Creda Meeks Kilgore; his wife, Cathleen Merritt Kilgore; daughter, Nanci Maurice Gannon; sisters, Rosalee Meeks and Rachael Spurgeon; and brothers, Arthur, Leonard, James, Roy, and Glen Ray Kilgore.
Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Glenn and Debbie Kilgore, grandchildren Corey (Amy) Gannon, Christopher (Bekah) Gannon, and Heather (Lance) High; great-grandchildren, Issac, Eli, and Abel Gannon, Henley and Hartman High, and Everett Gannon, and sisters Linda Lawson, and Nancy Elizabeth Sheffy. Many nieces, nephews, family members, and friends also survive.
A memorial service will be 1 p.m.Wednesday at McMinnville Funeral Home Chapel. Christopher Gannon will officiate. Military grave rites will be administered by American Legion Post 173 and VFW Post 5064 at the funeral home. Inurnment will follow at Concord Cemetery in Coffee County. The Kilgore family will receive friends Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the chapel of McMinnville Funeral Home.
