McMinnville resident and Los Angeles, Calif., native Richard Edward Erickson, 70, was born Oct. 24, 1946 and died Nov. 17 at his residence following an extended illness.A retired diesel mechanic with Wilco Truck Rental in Atlanta, Ga., a United States Army veteran of Vietnam, and a member of the Catholic Church, he was the son of the late George Sigurd and Virginia Ruth Richmond Erickson.He was married July 6, 1979 to Sandra Martin Erickson of McMinnville. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, Chris Gibson and husband Stuart of the Centertown community, David Erickson of McDonough, Ga., and Ricky Erickson of Morrow, Ga.; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Nancy and Chas Leizear of Georgia; brother and sister-in-law, Ron and Nancy Erickson of Georgia; and two nephews.Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at High’s Chapel. Burial will follow at Memorial Hill Cemetery at Trinity with full military honors administered by VFW Post 5064 and American Legion Post 173.
