Nettie Lucille Fletcher, 92, of Manchester died Saturday, July 23 at NHC Health Care in McMinnville.
She was born Oct. 23, 1918 in Coffee County, the daughter of the late Alton Lee Scott and Mary Prater Scott. In 1937, she married John W. “Jay” Fletcher and together they had six children. After raising her family, in 1950 Mrs. Fletcher received her GED and became a devoted nurse who cared for many over the years. She enjoyed going to the Smokies with her family and also fishing. She was a member of Pocohontas Church of Christ.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Jay Fletcher; three grandchildren, Gerald Wayne Fletcher, Marla Sue Anderson and John Marlin Anderson; sister, Virginia Lovell and brother, Everett Scott.
Survivors include six children, Rondell (Faye) Fletcher of Fayetteville; Edgar (Beatrice) Fletcher of the Pocohontas community; John (Pat) Fletcher of Moore County; Brenda (Marlin) Anderson of Summitville; Phillip (Linda) Fletcher of Blanton Chapel community and Gloria (Truman) Bush of Summitville; 13 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. Also surviving is a sister, Elizabeth Banks of Atlanta, Ga., and numerous nieces, nephews and loving friends.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday at the chapel of Manchester Funeral Home with John Bush officiating. Burial followed at Fletcher Cemetery.
Manchester Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
