Nell Ray Rankhorn, 86, of the Belk community in Smithville passed away Saturday, Nov. 17, 2018 at NHC Healthcare facility in Warren County.


She was a homemaker, a lifetime member of the Eastern Star (Center Hill Lodge) and a member of the New Union The Baptist Church. Funeral service was held Tuesday, Nov. 20, at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Bro. Garry McBride and Bro. Marty Hensley officiated and burial followed at New Union Cemetery.


Mrs. Rankhorn was preceded in death by parents Joseph Thurman and Lula Lakey Ray; husband John Lenard Rankhorn; six sisters Imogene Rogers, Lois Ray, Ruth Ray and she is also preceded by three more infant sisters; five brothers Burnice, George, J.T., Clayton, and Donald Ray; one daughter Sharon Bouldin, and two grandsons Keilin and Carson Hensley.


Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law-Carolyn and Garry McBride of Smithville, and Tamara and Marty Hensley of Rock Island; one son Michael Rankhorn of Smithville, seven grandchildren Chris (Betsy) McBride of Quebec, Stephanie (Jeff) Walls of Rock Island, Jennifer (Paul) Davis of McMinnville, Natalie (Mike) Jennings of Cookeville, Johnna Hensley and her fiancé Bobby Wright of Sparta, Peyton Hensley and Elijah Hensley, both of Rock Island. 13 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.              


In addition to flowers, the family has requested donations please be made to New Union Cemetery Fund. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
