Mildred Evelyn Laws Northcutt, 80, of McMinnville, faithful Christian, died Friday, Feb. 28, at Alive Hospice at Saint Thomas West Hospital in Nashville.She was born Nov. 26, 1933, in Warren County, was a former employee of Powermatic, retired as a teacher’s aide with the Warren County School System after 21 years, and was a dedicated and lifelong member of the Church of Christ at Oakland. She loved her church family and always had a smile for everyone she met and a hug for all she loved. Mrs. Northcutt was preceded in death by parents Kenneth and Bessie Clark Laws, her sisters Hildred Laws, Frances Duncan, Myrl Campbell, Beulah Gann, Edith Simpson, Edna Leech, and Zelis Burks, and her brothers Roy, Omer, and Harold Laws.Survivors include her husband of 62 years James T. Northcutt; two dedicated daughters and sons-in-law, Sherry and Bruce Griffith of McMinnville, and Angie and Mark Saylors of Sparta; five grandchildren, Benjie and Kristy Griffith of McMinnville, Kayla Griffith of Washington, D.C., Zack Saylors of Virginia Beach, Va., and Ali Saylors of Cookeville; two very special great-grandchildren, Lorelei Griffith and Turner Griffith, loving brother and sister-in-law, Ernest and Billie Laws; brothers-in-law, William Northcutt and Bobby (Mary) Northcutt; and sisters-in-law Dorothy Brown and Hazel (Tom) Starkey; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews along with many dear friends.Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Monday at McMinnville Funeral Home Chapel.
