Mrs. Mevolyn DeLong Haston, 84, of Sparta died Friday, March 30, at the NHC of Sparta. She was born May 15, 1927 to the late Arzie and Cleo Hitchcock DeLong. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James R. Haston, and daughter Angela Haston.She was a retired school teacher from White County and Van Buren County Schools.She is survived by special chosen daughter Norma Jean (Haston) Key and husband Rev. Richard Key of Sparta, god-son and grandson Richie (Tonya) Key and their daughters Emma and Molly of Sparta, god-daughter and granddaughter Robin (Lewis) Carrick and their daughters Malaysia and Jaya of Sparta, brothers and sisters Lambert (Mary) DeLong of Naples, Fla., Genevive (Clifford) Bouldin of Spencer, Glenda Palmer (Willis) Hale of Cocoa Beach, Fla., Cleta (Carl) Bouldin of McMinnville, and Charles (Carolyn) DeLong of McMinnville, along with several nieces, nephews and special friends Noretta and Tom Prime.Funeral service is Tuesday at 2 p.m. at North Sparta Church of God with burial to follow at Highland Cemetery.
