McMinnville resident and DeKalb County native Melvin Rose West, 73, died Nov. 5 at his home after an extended illness.Self-employed with McMinnville Starter and Alternator Repair and a member of the Baptist Church, he was the son of the late Toy and Lora Young West, and was preceded in death by sister, Jeanetta Hennessee.He is survived by his wife, Elva Green West; children and their spouses, Jackie and James Madewell, Sean West, and Houston West, all of McMinnville, and Stacey Cagle of Centertown; grandchildren, Brenton Madewell, Toni Madewell, Ethan West, Dakota West, Raven Cagle and Dustin Cagle; great-grandchildren, Brooklynn, Breana and Braxton Madewell; brothers, Doug and Hoyt West of McMinnville; sisters, Inez McCormick and Linda Davis of McMinnville, and Angelia Emly of Woodbury; several nieces and nephews.Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at High’s Chapel with Jerry Hennessee officiating. Burial will follow at New Bildad Cemetery in DeKalb County.
