McMinnville resident and Cannon County native Maurice Dwight Burger, 65, was born May 11, 1947 and died Jan. 8 at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville following a two-month illness.The owner of Exchange Furniture Company, Inc., a United States Army veteran of Vietnam, and a member of Covenant Fellowship Church, he was the son of the late Samuel Medford and Emma Lee Sparkman Burger. Mr. Burger was an avid golfer and owner of Burger’s Custom Golf.He was married to Sandra Ware Burger of McMinnville. In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Michele and Albert Prater of McMinnville; son and daughter-in-law, Chad and Marcie Burger of McMinnville; eight grandchildren, Clinton Mansell, Andrew Mansell, Allie Thomas, Ethan Thomas, Julieann Thomas, Sydney Burger, Tyler Waldrop and Tyler Prater; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Wilma Witty, and Rachel and James Hayes, all of Murfreesboro, and Sandra and Larry Lancin of Henderson, and numerous nieces and nephews.Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Covenant Fellowship Church with Dean Northcutt and Kenny McNatt officiating.
