Marcelle Walker Stubblefield, 91, of McMinnville (Irving College community) died Saturday, Oct. 8, at River Park Hospital.
Born Aug. 24, 1920 in Warren County, she was a retired educator of 42 years in Warren County schools having taught at High Top School during her first teaching years and also at William Biles, Irving College, and at Gribble where she also served as principal and had the opportunity to work with exceptional children. She also served as a member of the Retired Teachers Association. She also trained and showed Tennessee Walking Horses, and was a member of Irving College Baptist Church. Mrs. Stubblefield was preceded in death by parents Elijah F. and Lemma Barnes Walker and brother Howard B. Walker.
Survivors include her husband of 69 years Claude Stubblefield of McMinnville; daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth and Michael Dendy of Petersburg; son Andy Talbert of Oklahoma; sister and brother-in-law, Sarah Becton and Willie Ornelas of Indialantic, Fla.; sister-in-law, Eugenia Bottoms Walker of McMinnville; five grandchildren, including Michael Dendy and Elisha Taylor, three great-grandchildren Jonathan, Kristen, and Gabi Dendy. She was a special aunt to her many nieces and nephews.
Funeral service is 11 a.m. today at McMinnville Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. John Kent will officiate. Interment will follow at Armstrong Cemetery. The Stubblefield family will receive friends today from 10 to 11 a.m. at the parlors of McMinnville Funeral Home. Online condolences may be made at www.mcminnvillefuneralhome.com.
