Mamie Newman, 85, a McMinnville resident and Warren County native, was born June 10, 1935 and died Feb. 7 at her residence following an extended illness.
She was a homemaker, a member of the Church of Christ, attended the Presbyterian Church and was the daughter of the late Caleb Jackson and Delma Poss Prater. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers Brown, C.J., Everett, and James Prater, and sisters Agnes Mullins, Virginia Hillis, and Cleva Harding.
Mamie Newman is survived by Ed Newman of McMinnville, children and spouses Debbie Clark of Coffee County, Glen and Angie Newman of McMinnville, and George and Heather Newman of McMinnville, three grandchildren Clint and Jessica Newman, Emily Newman and Shelby Newman, all of McMinnville, two great-grandsons Calvin and Cooper Newman, sister Faye Burch Young of Rock Island, and special caregivers, Wayne and Wanda Fults. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Graveside service and interment was held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 9, at Liberty Cemetery in McMinnville with Ricky Minton officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice. Online condolences may be made at www.highfuneralhome.com.
