Viola resident and Grundy County native Lillian Darnell Maxwell, 82, was born Nov. 7, 1929 and died Dec. 10 at her residence following a brief illness.
A teacher’s aide and member of Viola United Methodist Church, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Leah Wooten Darnell. She was married June 5, 1948 to Carlos “Mutt” Maxwell, who preceded her in death July 29, 1974. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by son-in-law, David Rubley and brother-in-law, Dalton Hoover.
She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia and Leonard Snodgrass of McMinnville, and Judy and Joe Bob Mills of Rock Island; two grandchildren, Jason Snodgrass of McMinnville and Julie Braxton (Rob) Parrish of Murfreesboro; five great-grandchildren, Lindsay and Kelsi Snodgrass, Troy Rubley, and Valerie and Taylor Parrish; step-grandson, Seth Rubley and wife Angela of Murfreesboro; and sister, Leoma Hoover of McMinnville.
Funeral service was held Tuesday in High’s Chapel with John May officiating. Burial followed at Viola Cemetery.
High Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
