McMinnville resident and DeKalb County native Leroy Walker, 82, was born April 14, 1936 and died Sept. 15 at his residence.

A retired plumber with Byars Plumbing & Electric and a member of the Church of Christ, he was the son of the late Louis Dotson and Martha Welch Walker. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, L.D., Carl and Clifford Walker; and two sisters Rosetta Hickerson and Inez Boren.

He was married April 5, 1957 to Reba Summers Walker of McMinnville. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, Scott Walker (Shana Pack), Melonie Turner, and Wendy (Josh) Baker, all of McMinnville; fifteen grandchildren and spouses, Justin Anderson, Drew and Heather Anderson, Brooke and Nick Taylor, Brad and Allison Anderson, Logan Walker, Leah Walker and Austin Hayes, Landon Walker, Hunter Beaty, Abby Beaty, Allie Beaty, Walker Beaty, Kelton Baker, Kali Curtis, Maddy Pack and Trace Pack; three great-granddaughters, Charlotte and Emilia O’Dell and Kinsley Moore; three great-grandsons, Benjamin Anderson, Camden Jones and Reagan Jones; sister, Juanita Cantrell of Seymour; two sisters-in-law, Virgie Walker of McMinnville and Bettie Summers of Muncie, Ind.; and former daughter-in-law, Marcia Walker of Newark, Ohio.

Funeral service was Tuesday, Sept. 18, at High’s Chapel with Melonie Turner and Michael Summers officiating. Burial followed at Mt. View Cemetery. Online condolences may be made at
