Leona Williams, 94

Rock Island resident and Warren County native Leona Williams, 94, was born July 30, 1917 and died Oct. 14 at River Park Hospital following a short illness.
A homemaker and a member of Freedom Missionary Baptist Church, she was the daughter of the late Alex and Lilly Perry Coppinger. She was married to first husband, Marshall Smartt, who preceded her in death in 1949, and second husband, Carl Williams, who preceded her in death in 1966. In addition to her husbands and parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, Jerry and Stanley Smartt.
She is survived by two sons and daughter-in-law, John David and Rosemary Smartt of Rock Island and William L. Williams of Rock Island; three grandchildren and their spouses, John and Clara Smartt Jr., of Rock Island, Holly and Terry Mullican of Morrison, and Marshall Smartt of Rock Island; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service and interment will be held Monday at 1:30 p.m. at Mt. View Cemetery with Rex Boles officiating. Visitation will be held Monday from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at High’s.
High Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
