Rock Island resident Leona Ruby Raper, 84, died Aug. 16 at River Park Hospital after an extended illness.A homemaker, a loving mother and a member of Campaign Church of God, she was the daughter of the late Tom and Emma Priest Owens; and was preceded in death by her husband, Buckshort Raper; daughter, Treva Joyce Raper; sister, Emma Jean King; brothers, Bufford Owens and Leford Owens.She is survived by daughter, Joy A. McBride; sons, Lonnie H., Louse R., and Terry V. and wife Melinda Raper, all of Rock Island; brother, T.D. Owens of Rock Island; several nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends; nine grandchildren, Steven Wright, Brandon, Black, Terrence, Mitchell and Cody Raper, Brittany Jernigan, Timmy McBride and Tammy Ferrell; and five great-grandchildren.Services will be held at 2 p.m. today at Gardens of Memory Funeral Home with Steve Breedlove officiating. Burial will follow at Crain Hill Cemetery.
