McMinnville resident and Warren County native Laura Mae Roberts Turner, 88, was born Sept. 28, 1934 and died June 14, 2023 at Willow Branch Health and Rehabilitation in McMinnville following an extended illness.
A retired employee of St. Thomas River Park Hospital and a member of Arlington Church of Christ, she was the daughter of the late Herbert and Maggie Romans Roberts. She was married to William Louis “Billy” Turner on Nov. 21, 1953 who preceded her in death on Jan. 11, 2016. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by sisters, Evelyn Morgan and Wavie Herrin; brothers, Ed Roberts and Howard Roberts; niece, Sherry Langston and son-in-law, Raymond Nunley.
Mrs. Turner is survived by seven children, Billy Wayne (Maureen) Turner of McMinnville, Vicki (Clark) Rowland of Rock Island, and Janie Nunley, Sandy Turner, Lisa Gilbert, Curtis Turner and Michelle (Teddy) Grandey, Jr., all of McMinnville; seven grandchildren, Dana Lee, Josh Turner, Maggi (Jordan) Fann, Jake (Heather) Gilbert, Eli Gilbert, Nick (Rebekah) Grandey and Nate Grandey; four great-grandchildren, Lacey Lee, Ryan Lee, Talon Fann and Ava Grace Gilbert; sister, Ruby Hennessee of McMinnville; brother, Jerry Wayne Roberts of McMinnville and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held at noon Saturday, June 17 in High’s Chapel with Gary Newby and Carson Rust officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. View Cemetery in McMinnville. Visitation will be Friday from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. until time of service at High’s.
