Mr. Lannie O. Lance, 67, of McMinnville died Monday, Nov. 29, at Ascension St. Thomas River Park Hospital. 

He was born July 24, 1954, in McMinnville, was a self-employed contractor, a “jack of all trades,” enjoyed tinkering with mechanic work, grew up with horses and was especially fond of Tennessee Walking Horses, and attended the church of Christ. Mr. Lance was preceded in death by his father James Vinson “J.V.” Lance, sister Vickie Amman, and brother Ricky Lance.

Lannie is survived by his mother Pauline Prater Lance, son Michael V. Lance, daughter Retha (Clayton) Payne, brothers Roger Dale (Marie) Lance and Jeff (Monica) Miller, sister Wavel Jeanette, sister-in-law Carol N. Lance, niece Teresa (Mason) Lynch, grandchildren Michelle Lance, Damon Wilcher, Justin Wilcher, Layna Payne, Katlyn Payne, and Aaron Payne, six great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. 

Funeral service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 3, at McMinnville Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Whitlock Cemetery. The Lance family will receive friends from 3 to 7 p.m. on Thursday and again from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Friday.
